Steam, Wheels 'n' Rails - 28th & 29th November
The Story of the Birth of the Modern Railways S&DR200 event - back by popular demand
You might have seen mention of this in the latest Choir Newsletter. Our very good friend and first bass, Alex Nicholson, has a significant rôle, a whiskery one, in the production, but is far too modest to mention it. He is happy to arrange tickets (£10) and suggests that you email him at:
alexander@doctors.org.uk
More information from Alex on the production follows:
Dear Friends
I am writing to let you know that there will be another opportunity to see the newly written period drama with music that tells the story of the origins of the S&DR and which was performed as part of the Bicentenary celebrations. I appreciate you may have been frustrated by the very short notice changes to the schedule which meant fewer performances took place than had been planned/advertised.
There will be two further performances. Tickets cost £10 for all ages/status.
Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2025, starting at 7.30pm. The performance lasts about 2 hrs including a short interval. (Bring own refreshments)
St Patrick's Parish Centre, Glenfield Road, Fairfield, Stockton, TS19 7PJ.
Audience capacity is limited to 80 per night therefore tickets need to be reserved (ideally bought) in advance. I am very happy to arrange this.
If you would like to attend, please email me stating which night you would like to attend and how many tickets you need. It would be preferable (to avoid handling cash on the night) if you can pay me in advance (I will provide BACS details) and I will settle with the Community Players management team. Entry will then be sorted for the night.
No pressure to come, and no need to send apologies if you are unable. The four performances that took place in September were extremely well received by the audiences.
Best wishes
Alex

Important Notice - John Fletcher Rehearsal Files
Rehearsal files for most of the pieces we will ever do can be found on the excellent John Fletcher site. You can access some of the pre-20thC pieces for free by simply registering with that site. But many later pieces require a subscription. This is £12/year for an individual, or £21.80 for a group membership for 2 people. I suggest you all make that investment in yourselves to give you access to pretty much everything we are likely to do in the future.
