Cleveland Philharmonic Choir

North East Youth Chorale

North East Youth Chorale was established by John Forsyth in 2010 to offer high-quality choral training and performance to young people aged 16-23. The choir has been very successful in that time, performing repertoire by Bach,  Britten, Bruckner, Fauré, Haydn, Vaughan Williams, Rutter and Whitacre, including acclaimed performances of  Brahms’ German Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.  In 2010, Paul McCreesh, the Director of the internationally renowned Gabrieli Ensemble, invited NEYC to be part of the Gabrieli’s Young Singers Scheme. Since that time, NEYC has been involved in a BBC Prom performance, a subsequent recording of Mendelssohn’s Elijah (2011) and a recording of Britten’s War Requiem (2013), both of which gained national and international awards.

Between 2011 and 2013, NEYC collaborated once again with The Gabrielis in performances at Brinkburn Festival, which included Fauré’s Requiem and Haydn’s The Seasons. In 2013, the choir was invited to be the semi-chorus in a performance of Will Todd’s St Cuthbert at Durham Cathedral and featured in a live recording of the BBC programme The Choir from Sage Gateshead.  2014 is a busy year with concerts across the region. In September, NEYC will sing Handel’s Dixit Dominus in the final concert of the Lanchester Early Music Festival.  An important aim of the choir is to perform throughout the North East region and to date the choir has performed in Brinkburn Priory, Cullercoats, Consett, Chester-le-Street, Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Houghton-le-Spring, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Washington.

The choir offers unparalleled choral opportunity and is always looking for young singers. If you are interested or know of someone who enjoys singing and would benefit from and contribute to NEYC, please get in touch with John Forsyth at john@neyc.co.uk

WHOOPS - The website is being re-constructed!

Apologies to all our readers.  The US based company which provides web services for Cleveland Philharmonic Choir has had a major crash of its systems (not thought to be Trump or Putin related). It is in the process of restoring all of the websites which it hosts, including ours.  Meanwhile, please keep checking here for news about our rehearsal schedule and our concerts.
