Cleveland Philharmonic Choir is the leading large chorus in the Tees Valley and has been bringing fine quality music to substantial audiences for 45 years, led by Music Director John Forsyth (pictured left), one of the most distinguished choral trainers in the UK, recently awarded the MBE for services to music and music education.
The choir sets itself high performance standards and works hard to do justice to the great music it is privileged to sing - the great classics by Bach, Handel and Mozart but also less well-known and challenging pieces which people rarely get the chance to hear. Performances feature experienced professional singers but also give opportunities to young, local soloists and choirs of young people. Members also support a hospice and music in a local primary school and provide singers for events run by other organisations – recently to one bringing opera accompanied by silver band to several venues in the area!
Cleveland Philharmonic Choir has gained a reputation for delivering large events successfully in the Tees Valley and, through continuous improvement, is now poised to become regionally significant.
